Pamela Anderson Biography And Filmography:

An attractive blonde model and former Playboy Magazine playmate, Canadian American actress Pamela Anderson (also Pamela Anderson Lee and Pamela Lee) shot onto the Hollywood scene in the early 1990’s and refuse to accept her critics by staying there. As star of the worldwide television wonder, “Baywatch” (1989-2001), Pamela Anderson fixed her textbook transition from modeling into acting and Playboy Magazine centerfold – the last following her numerous love life stories with rock band boyfriends and husbands Tommy Lee and Kid Rock. A leaked sex tape with Pamela and Tommy Lee did little to stop this one-woman entertainment sensation late nineties energy. After over fifteen years of sexy celebrity status, Pamela Anderson rose to the next level of celebrity stardom by becoming something even bigger – namely, a pop culture icon – and all of this with few actual credits under her belt.

As luck would have it, this weird manifestation of her as “Superstar Sex Symbol” worked as the running sub-plot of the 2006 comedy “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” Through many years, breast enlargements and PETA protests, Pamela Anderson always seemed to captivate a public, which, not unlike the love-struck Borat, viewed the large breasts and gorgeous actress as America’s romanticized blonde bombshell.

Born on July 1, 1967 in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada, Pamela Denise Anderson grew up in the beautiful city of Vancouver. In a set of circumstances that only a Hollywood writer could create, Anderson was discovered while simply minding her own business at a football game. At halftime, a network camera man, needing to kill a few minutes between quarters, was panning the crowd, looking for someone to embarrass on the stadium’s giant Jumbo-Tron screen, when he spotted the knock-out gorgeous 22-year old Pamela Anderson in the seats, wearing a skin tight Labatt’s Beer shirt.

After seeing her massive image on-screen, the crowd broke into a group cheer louder than any ever heard for the B.C. Lions in their 43-year history. That was all Labatt’s Beer needed to hear. Within days, Anderson got a contract from the beer company, offering her the job of "The Blue Zone Girl" – Labatt Beer’s official spokesmodel. Soon after her discovery, the actress started on a career making decision to get breast implants. Still her early 20's, Pamela Anderson got her first pair of implants. From there, her cup size continued to grow larger for several years, before peaking at a 36DD. In 1999, however, Anderson decided to downsize her implants to a slightly less bizarre C-cup. And with that… a superstar sexy celebrity was about to be born on both sides of the border.

Relocating to Los Angeles in the late 1980’s, Pamela Anderson got a warm welcome, to say the least, from her American cousins to the south. Within only months, Anderson was offered an opportunity lots of young women only dream of – the chance to pose for Playboy Magazine. Named Miss February of 1990, Pamela Anderson’s Playboy issue set record sales numbers and got her the attention of television producers. Always on the search for fresh eye candy, Hollywood hired Anderson to essentially just stand and look beautiful, which she did amazingly well on such shows as "Married... With Children" (1987-1997) with Christina Applegate, "Married People" (1990-91) and "Top of the Heap." (1991).

But Pamela Anderson’s big break was still to come. Cast as Lisa “The Tool Time Girl” on the highly rated Tim Allen sitcom, "Home Improvement” (1991-99) with Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Anderson's hot sexuality stood out on like a spotlight as she traded jokes with Tim Allen while dressed in a tool belt and sexy short-shorts. In 1993, two years into her “Home Improvement” job, Pamela Anderson received an opportunity that would forever change her life – a regular role on the syndicated drama, “Baywatch.”

Taking the role proved to be the smartest decision of Pamela Anderson’s career. If the celebrities star was rising before, “Baywatch” sent it into overdrive. For five seasons, this Canadian import embodied the definitive California Girl every week in the form of lifeguard C.J. Parker. The new "Baywatch" undisputed star just below co-star and executive producer David Hasselhoff, Anderson helped shoot “Baywatch” to the top of the ratings and redefined breast television for a whole new generation of young boys. By the time Pamela Anderson left the show, “Baywatch” had become the most watched television program in the world, seen in 150 countries and translated into 35 different languages.

Still, Anderson longed for new challenges after the show’s 1996-97 season. For understandable reasons, producers badly wanted Anderson to stay on "Baywatch", even offering to renegotiate her contract. But in the end, Anderson knew it was better to leave the dance too early, than too late. And so, in 1997 – after five years of slow motion breast heaving rescues and sexy CPR’s – an era was ended. But not completely - Six years after hanging up her red one-piece Speedo bikini, Anderson was convinced into returning for a small guest appearance in the 2003 made-for-television movie, “Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.” Baywatch had been a Hollywood wonder, helping to launce the careers of numerous celebrities such as Yasmine Bleeth, Erika Eleniak, Gena Lee Nolin, Carmen Electra, Vanessa Angel and Jenny McCarthy.

Seeing movie features as her next logical career step, Anderson turned her "Baywatch" success into starring roles in two straight-to-video thrillers, "Snapdragon" (1993) and "Raw Justice" (1994). Pamela Anderson's big-screen debut, however, did not come until a few years later, when she signed on to star in the big-budget action feature, "Barb Wire" (1996). Based on a popular graphic novel of the same name, Anderson played the film’s lead hero – a tattooed, rubber dressed mercenary who took no prisoners and looked sexy doing it. Regrettably, as bad as her character was, the reviews on “Barb Wire” were even worse. The ultramodern comic-book adventure died at the box office.

Returning to the smaller world of television, Pamela Anderson found another acting job and additional role as an executive producer on her next television series, the action thriller, “V.I.P” (1998-2002). In "V.I.P", Anderson played Vallery Irons, a small-town girl who becomes celebrated after saving the life of an actor – and so naturally, starts her own security firm.

Even with less than great acting jobs, Anderson’s name stayed front and center in the tabloid press, thanks to her high-profile personal life. After being romantically linked throughout the 1990's with a series of bad-boy celebrities – including Scott Baio, “Baywatch” co-star David Charvet, Poison front man Bret Michaels, and pro surfer Kelly Slater, among others – Pamela Anderson finally settled down with Tommy Lee, drummer for the heavy metal band, Motley Crue, after a remarkably short romance. The couple wed on a beach in Mexico on Feb. 19. 1995 – the bride in a white bikini; the groom shirtless in shorts. Perplexed fans gave the marriage two months tops. But it lasted, and the couple’s wild affair would produce two children – Brandon Thomas in 1996 and Dylan Jagger in 1997.

Pamela Anderson’s marriage to Tommy Lee did not come without its share of public relations nightmares, however. Wherever the couple went, paparazzi were in hot pursuit, ensuing in more than one exchange between Lee and photographers outside of L.A. nightclubs and bars. In June of 1996, word leaked that a homemade pornographic videotape starring Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee had been found. The porno video – which was stolen by a contractor who was renovating their home – also included footage of Pamela Anderson and Lee’s peculiar quickie beachside wedding ceremony. When the porno tape emerged for sale on the internet, Anderson and Lee quickly moved to stop its distribution, but it was too late. The damage was done – though, some would argue, it only improved her reputation as a slut. Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee filed a $90 million copyright infringement suit against the Internet Entertainment Group (IEG), the company that distributed the porno video, to claim a share of the profits of their stolen video. Following appeals, Anderson and Lee were awarded $1.5 million, plus legal fees.

In 1998, Tommy Lee was arrested following a domestic dispute at their home in Malibu, in which Anderson accused her husband of kicking her in the back while she held their son. Anderson was offered hospital treatment, but she declined. After pleading no contest to kicking Anderson, Lee was sentenced to four months in prison. While Lee was serving his time, the couple officially divorced. Over the years, Anderson and Lee reconciled a number of times, but it never worked out, though after much post-divorce bitterness, the two finally called a truce for their children’s sakes. The two would even become friends again in a few years.

As the 21st century dawned, Pamela Anderson  stayed more relevant than ever. In addition to launching her own line of shoes, clothing, and pet accessory products, Anderson became an outspoken champion for animal rights. A celebrity spokesperson for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Pamela Anderson added brand new respect with animal lovers the world over by volunteering her time and money to such charitable causes as the Canadian Seal protection fund and the PETA boycott of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) over their cruel practices farming their chickens. Anderson also lent her image – including a famous nude pose with the tagline "I'd Rather Go Naked than Wear Fur" – to the cause.

During March of 2002, Anderson surprised the world by publicly revealing that she’d been diagnosed with Hepatitis C – an incurable viral disease that affects the liver. How Anderson came to be infected was unclear; but the popular belief was that it most likely resulted from sharing tattoo needles with her husband. Tommy Lee publicly denied ever having the infection and took Anderson to task in the media for what he insisted was a lie on her part. In an October 2003 appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show, Anderson lightheartedly estimated that she did not expect to live more than 10 to 15 years – a statement which was misunderstand by the tabloids as true.

With the divorce from Tommy Lee behind her and "V.I.P." coming to an end, Pamela Anderson announced she was taking a year off to focus on her health and to spend more time with her children. Even so, Anderson stayed in the public eye by writing a regular column for Jane magazine. Anderson also teamed up with Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee to create the animated series "Stripperella" (2003), about a sexy super hero based on Anderson’s own likeness. The actress lent her voice to Stripperella, as well as her alter ego, the shy Erotica Jones. Advertisements for the sexy comic hyped the memorable catchphrase: “Exotic dancer and stripper by night, and superhero by… later that night."

In 2005, Anderson made her expected return to television as the star of the spoof titled Fox comedy, "Stacked" (2005 -06). Anderson portrayed Skyler Dayton, a blond bombshell who works at a book store – hence, the double-entendre title. The subject of an extreme bidding war between ABC, NBC, and Fox, “Stacked” premiered to great ratings, but slipped considerably as the series went on. In January of 2006, Fox finally cancelled “Stacked” eight episodes into its second season.

Despite the frustration of her cancelled series, Pamela Anderson continued to make guest appearances on screen. In the 2006 mockumentary, “Borat,” she played a central role as the object of Kazakhstani journalist Borat Sagdiyev’s fondness (played by British funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen.) Though Anderson appeared only briefly at the end of the movie, much of the film’s plot centered on the insensitive foreign journalist’s search to find and meet the sex symbol. Throughout the promotion for Borat, studio publicists absurdly maintained that Anderson (like everyone else in Borat,) was merely an unaware suspect of the filmmakers. This statement, however, seemed extremely unlikely, given that Pamela Anderson was “kidnapped” on-camera for the film’s conclusion. Anderson would later admit to being in on the joke. Borat was a hit, and so was Pamela Anderson

On a personal note, on July 18, 2006 Anderson married her longtime on-again, off-again fiancée, Detroit rocker, Kid Rock, in Saint-Tropez. The couple also held additional wedding ceremonies in the United States. However, only four months later – and only weeks after a heartbreaking miscarriage announcement – in November, Anderson amazed the public by applying for an annulment. Both sides went back and forth as to why – Anderson's side claiming Kid Rock was infuriated at her look in "Borat", and Kid Rock's side claiming it was due to Anderson's partying ways. Regardless of the reasons, the couple insisted they would make the divorce friendly for the sake of the the children.

Anderson continued to appear in feature films such as "Blonde and Blonder" (2007) where a comic mayhem ensues when two sexy blondes, Dee and Dawn, are mistaken as international mob killers. Next she appeared with Drake Bell in the action comedy "Superhero Movie" (2008), a send-up of superhero films, from Batman Begins to the Fantastic Four.
