Jessica Ann Simpson was born in Dallas, Texas, on July 10, 1980 and was raised in the small city of Richardson. She enjoyed life, and her father Joe was a psychologist and served as youth minister in the local Baptist church.

With this backdrop, it was only common for her to take part in church activities and she sang in the church choir. Her career started at the age of twelve, she auditioned for "The Mickey Mouse Club".

When she reached the last round of auditions, she froze and was unable to continue. Sadly, she did not get selected for the project. The celebrities that did make it onto the show include Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. All the same, the encounter served as an key life lesson for the young actress.

She returned to Richardson Texas and started writing and singing Christian music. Her father and manager Joe booked her on a concert tour, where they played the Christian Youth circuit. She would sing, and then sell her CDs after shows. It worked. And while she was still in junior high school, she was performing with admired gospel musical acts such as Kirk Franklin and Ce Ce Winans.

It was not only Christian music fans who enjoyed her music and performances; pop music lovers world wide were being captivated by her voice and talent. This was the support she needed to begin her own music career. News of her success reached the right executives in the music industry. Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records/Sony Music was one, and was impressed by her voice and talents.

Mottola believed she had the musical ability to attract mainstream listeners. Still, she made it clear that she would only work on the project if she could keep her down to earth and wholesome identity. Mottola agreed, and her career was launched.

After signing up with the music label goliath, her debut album "Sweet Kisses" was released in 1999, yielding the singles "I Wanna Love You Forever" and "I Think I'm In Love With You." She then began a concert tour across the nation where she showed audiences what the excitement was all about.

She joined boy band "98 Degrees" on their concert tour where she quickly fell in love with one of its members, Nick Lachey. The pairs hot romance only helped jumpstart the release of their duet single, "Where You Are," off the "Sweet Kisses" album.

In June 2001, her second album "Irresistible" was released. The title track was a huge hit and got as high as third place on the Top 40 Mainstream chart. Her third album "In This Skin" was released in August 2003. However, her life was about to take a radical turn.

After a short separation, Jessica and Nick ultimately got married in October 2002 and the celebrity wedding was rejoiced in tabloid magazines everywhere. As a result, MTV offered the couple a reality show based on their everyday life as a couple, much like The Osbournes.

The deal was finalized, and August 2003 marked the debut of "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica". While the show over powered her new album, the show became an smash hit and it was picked up for a second and third season.

Since the world seemed to want more of their silly activities, the couple was offered a television variety special suggestive of "The Sonny and Cher Show."

About the time of her marriage to Nick, she appeared in three episodes of "That '70s Show" as Kelso's (Ashton Kutcher) romantic love interest. She also appeared on "The Twilight Zone" in 2002, which led the way for her 2005 big screen debut playing sexy "Daisy Dukes" in the film version of "The Dukes of Hazzard" costarring Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott. The movie was combined with the release of her remake of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking." During 2006 she was hired to appear in Dane Cook's side-splitting movie "Employee of the Month".

Also 2008 she was hired for the cast of "Employee of the Month" (2006), about a man who hears that the new female employee digs ambitious men who are the store employee of the month, a slacker gets his act together but finds himself in competition with his rival, an ambitious co-worker. Next was the romantic comedy "Blonde Ambition" (2007) about a young professional woman who unwittingly becomes the pawn of two business executives in their bid to oust the head of a mega-conglomerate.

Then she worked with Justin Timberlake on the comedy "The Love Guru" (2008) about Pitka, an American raised outside of his country by gurus, who returns to the States in order to break into the self-help business. His first challenge: To settle the romantic troubles and subsequent professional skid of a star hockey player whose wife left him for a rival athlete. She wrapped her year with another comedy in the film "Major Movie Star" (2008) about when fluffy, bubble gum movie star Megan Parker suddenly finds herself broke and humiliated in the public eye, she wanders from the wreckage of a car accident and witlessly enlists in the U.S. Army hoping in vain that it will change her life.
